Once the wires are securely in place, you can start mounting your new light fixture to the ceiling. Follow the manufacturer’s instructions for this step.
Before you begin hanging your new light, it is important to consider the weight of the fixture. If you plan to hang a heavier fixture, you should install a new junction box to support it. If you have a smaller, lighter fixture, you can reuse the existing box.
Now, you will need to connect the frayed ends of your new copper, black and white wires securely to the existing wires in your ceiling. This is an easy task if you follow the manufacturer’s instructions.
Once the ceiling wires are connected, you can finish installing your new light fixture and re-install the switch. Then, turn the breaker back on and flip the light switch to test that everything is working properly. If the lights don’t come on, your connection is probably faulty and you need to rewire.
